Snow Queen

We are having a storm go thru but no snow. My reading has been intermittent with trips to Hawaii and such but I did finish this book yesterday, which was started on the plane three weeks back. There are some parallels with whales, in that the inhabitants of this book are divided into Summers and Winters, just like whales.  It is also like GOT where Winter or Summer can last generations.  In this case the Winter Queen has liked her power and tries to keep the throne when the Summer Queen rolls in after 150 yar.  However the good guys are on the job. This is another Hugo (1981) and often is the case, it is the first volume of a trilogy and I do not have the other two.  Just about every time a book wins the award, the success urges more volumes to appear, often years later.
