This is the diary that was started by Anne Drysdale as she boarded the ship to get to Melbourne in Sep 1839 and eventually spread to 5 volumes covering 15 years. The 4th volume which covered 4 years has gone missing. This was the period when they moved from the Barwon River to Coriyule where the stone mansion was constructed at Curlewis. The little things often stand out like toothache. Newcomb had a lifetime of gum and tooth trouble and the answer was always leeches. They used leeches often and for everything. Clothes washing was every couple of weeks and would take three days of soaking, washing, mangling and ironing. The farm took on everything that could walk, sheep, cows, horses, pigs, chickens and anything that could grow, fruit trees, vegetables, vines, field crops.
