Parliament House

Winter has returned today so I have gone back to the stamp box. There are many smaller boxes inside a larger carton, like this MacRobertson's Old Gold box that is full of stamp gold. Shortly after Federation, the rivalry between Sydney and Melbourne reached climax over the tug of war for the title of the Australian Capital. In the end they found a paddock, half way between the two cities and started building Canberra. In 1977 there was a booklet of stamps released to commemorate the 50 yar anniversary of the 1927 opening of Parliament. I found one of these books in the box. They are a reproduction of the original 1927 booklet.  A while later I was digging some more and found one of the original 1927 booklets.  I don't think there will be a third in 2027 as that Parliament House has been retired.

1½ pence  x 16 = 24 pence = 2 shillings in 1927

Both complete with original stamps inside. Looks like a name Giles Hunstible 16/6/27
