American Gods

This is one of your more recent Hugo winners, one of the first from this century, as I have mostly been concentrating on the older books. I think I rate all of those above this one. It did win every award going but it is a bit too dreamlike for me. It has been made into a TV series and will eventually turn up here. It is about ancient Gods but is sited in the USA which doesn't work.  After you get thru the 650 odd pages, there is another 100 or so pages left in the book, all unnumbered.  Turns out this is another shorter story with the same character but sited in Scotland. A better setting but more of the same stuff.
