I was just educating the masses about the Tassie Wave yesterday and last night we got a perfect view of it as it steam rolled into the shoreline. There was a fisherman on the rocks but he was well out of the way. I also went for a snorkel earlier in the day and saw two flounder that were perfectly buried in the sand. They were camouflaged ready to pounce on any small critters passing their way. I found one other camouflaged item covered in heaps of snails. This champagne bottle was lying there on the bottom half full of sand. I swear it was not one of ours!

Personal WaterCraft
I mentioned yesterday about my SUP rides and like most of my neighbours I and they prefer the absolute best conditions with minimal disturbance, but not everyone wants that. Some of these boards are designed for speed with a pointed surf board style bow and deep winged keels. Another method is not having a paddle at all but holding on to a kite wing. Now this video was taken during a storm surge but that is just what they wanted. I tried to get the lady SUP rider a few times but she was close into shore. I added another clip on a different day of just what a small imbalance can do. There is a phenomena here called the Tassie Wave and for some reason other large boats do not produce one. It will be interesting to see if the new tassie boats due next year and being of a different design, may produce a different wave action.

Stand Up Lesson
The neighbours came down to the beach with their SUP's while I was doing an inspection, so I related the story of how I tried to order a board online but that web site was not working. Then there were offers to try out these boards for size, so I had an impromptu Stand Up Paddle Board lesson. First there was Leanne's smaller board at 9'6" then Carey with a bigger board at 10'6". I stood straight up on the smaller board and would describe the two minutes I was on it as a wobbly experience. Carey's bigger board suited me which the blurb says is needed for a 90kg weight. This time I used a kneeling position to stand. I went further out but trying to turn back was tricky.
Engineered Cleanup
We talked to the engineer last week at the Dell who is doing the beach cleanup. He had trucks, dozers and diggers down at our beach yesterday. It has been scraped clean and two grass piles heaped up next to the rock groynes. No doubt these will wash away to somewhere else. I picked up some rubbish that had been dislodged but not too much. There was some wind over night which has brought in some more grass. After the cleaners you would like things to stay clean for at least one day. Where have I heard that before?

Clifton Hill BrewPub
There has been a luncheon held here every few months but co-ordinating a day it is on hasn't worked however this time we were doing it by crooked hook. There was a diversion to Grandpa's house as his printer was not working and there are a whole stack of 90th birthday photos to print. We did get to see some of the presents including an amazing carved book that my sister Leanne did. After that we got to the pub just in time for the BrouHaHa.

Elf on the Shelf split itSelf
We were having a sleepover at Asher's house and it just happened to be Dec 1st. Now this is the start of the countdown and an Elf can appear just to check up on what is going on during the leadup to Christmas. So our sleep wasn't the best due to the constant pestering of the damn cat who seems to sleep during the day and keep us awake at night. At least the two grandies were completely asleep for 10 hours but then the excitement started. At first Asher spied the Elf and was happy he had made it back but had not initially seen a second Elf that had crept in as well. Are you following? So it seems each child can have an Elf reporting back to Santa. You can't get away with anything these days.

Country Types at City Sites
We did the drive in steady rain into Melbourne City but first we were off to Cremorne to pickup a cake. Now I don't think I have ever set foot in a suburb called Cremorne. Anyway we are stumbling around and do find this crazy cake shop in an industrial Richmond back street. Now to get back into the city where we just drove thru and the rain is ever worse. We are going to Yakimono but it seems you can't really drive up to it so we take a huge underground carpark and surface inside the biggest Asian food hall I have ever been in and that includes Hong Kong and Japan. Eventually we work out that you walk between any building on the block to get to the centrepiece. Now this restaurant is top notch and we had a set 10 course menu. The octopus serving was a highlight. It was a high standard of food and service but we had no room for cake.
