Video Kids

The official videographer came up to me after I let him thru the gate and he goes "I can see you are the groom's brother"  that became a theme at the house when he was doing some filming. I did not want to carry around my video camera  at the wedding since the official guy was doing his job. I did have the phone video going a few times so we will see if there is any doubling up.

Mr & Mrs Roberts

A lot of planning has come to its result with Mr & Mrs Roberts.  A good thing there was lots of indoor space.  Small kids at weddings make things more interesteing.  Those kids did a good job though considering how late they were up. I think Asher, Evie and Estelle will be old enough to remember this occasion.  We were the last car to leave as we gathered up the presents and left over thank yous.  After Laura and Rick left with Evie and Charlie (extra early due to a cancelled flight)  we called into the Clancy's just down the road where they cooked up the bacon and eggs day starter.  We needed it to as it was time to deliver the booty.  And for the last word on the gateopener, we found a second one in the letterbox as we were leaving!

Clean Up Pack Up

I have forgotten what getting kiddies ready by a deadline is.  We had a good sleep with the new configuration based on putting kiddies in different rooms.  We are using Bluey again as a good distraction while we get ready for the next venue.  Anything not required can stay here until next time. The bins will stay out on the street until emptied as there is poo in there. Not sure when we will back at Willie and definitely not for the Christmas do as we got covid from that last year. Debbie has prepared zuchini bake, sausage rolls, a speech, clothing and kiddies to name a few. On to the party now.

Wedding Time

The bus got us to very picturesque spot for  drinks on the grassy area by the water. This was where the ceremony was held at Church  Point.  I have not eaten as much good food at a  wedding before. It did not take long to get sweaty after the photos.

Pandora's Box found

Over the road from the Outrigger is a shopping mall with a Pandora. We got a charming charm all about Hawaii.  We went to a restaurant there that was fussing with free deserts and decorations.  There are a few Outriggers here. This is the Outrigger Waikiki. It's orientation is perpendicular to the beach so it is essential for that deck view of Diamond Head that you get one of only four rooms on each floor that overlook the beach as we have done.  Also the two on the left are better than the two on the right side.  I was listening to the Doc on the phone grappling with hotel staff about 25 yar back. He wanted the precise alignment for Diamond Head and would pay $5000 extra to get it for his three week stay. Heart surgeons have money and will travel.

Traditional

I can't remember the last time I went to a wedding with all the trimmings, like the three courses, the long table, the garter toss and the clap goodbye.  It may have been my own.  A lot of work went into this and it was good to remember how these events used to be done.  These Clancy's like venues next to the beach and the Savoy was convenient for beach box wedding photos. The photo booth was an added bonus.  The speeches were confident and I think the camera man recorded some video.

Wedding House

The Clancy's are adept at finding the pre-wedding venues for sleepovers, preparations and other mayhem.  This renovated St. Kilda house has seven bedrooms each with an ensuite and the Victoriana decor  to go with it. There has only been one injury so far when Clair walked into a door.  We left for the reception hotel just as official photos were getting going.  The Gatwick ren is just down the road.

Dress Rehearsal

This wedding business requires a lot of preparation even when you are not in it. I even had a special shopping trip and as well my watch has a new battery.  The clothing was refitted today to prove that nothing had changed from previous fittings.  The other new thing we tried today was poaching eggs using the new all purpose egg cooker. Very tasty eggs too.

Mr & Mrs Taylor

Yes after all the planning, not that I did a lot of that, Mr & Mrs Taylor have emerged from the Treasury and the Marriage Certificate is here to prove it. There were many highlights starting with the Limo. This car was longer than our house is wide. The French Saloon gave you the taste and look of Europe and the Adina Apartments were a good way to finish but Laura and Rick were the stars.  Soon the real Europe will be the focus.

Wedding Update

The 11;30 report is that Rick is still in his pyjamas I on the other hand are completely changed and ready to go. I packed my belt into the suitcase that has already been placed at the hotel.  So I was quickly despatched to get another one. I have found the never worn Pierre Cardin watch but the battery is dead. I have found my sister Kai's hand made steam punk cuff links and this time I will try not to lose one.  There is much hair frissing and makeup fussing

Links restored
Just been out the front hanging the wedding dress in a tree!  We hesitated about steaming the dress and now its hanging in a tree.

Treasury Building

When this was built they didn't have weddings in mind. The banks couldn't handle the amount of gold coming into Melbourne so they built this to store the gold.  Eight gold vaults were placed in the basement.  This is now a freebie museum we only had a quick look inside. There are permanent displays and temporary shows like the Wild Colonial Boys.  Will have to go back to check that out. the wedding parlour has 58 seats and one desk.  So we should all fit.

Ya Ya Ya Ya Ya by the ocean

It was a good day for a white wedding with some blue thrown in.  And it was certainly All Smiles for the 1000 plus photos I estimate were taken between us. The high venue presented an impressive view of the beach and the sunset.  From St Thomas we had a short detour to Portsea Hotel for one drink. This is worth going back for lunch in the beer garden. After all the planning the wedding went off with only one hitch.
