The Blind Man

We ordered a blind about 4 weeks back and it arrived today for installation. It looks so snug it may have been part of the house.  We went for a short 90min stretch on the beach but when the sun disappeared so did we.  We saw a horse being ridden on the next beach but we know all about how to do that bare back business in the ocean.  We rushed back to try the blind but there was no Sun to block out.

Birthday Public Holidays

This birthday holiday thing is spreading.  I have never paid too much attention to horse racing but at this time of year you can't help it.  One of these days I will go along maybe to the Moonee Valley track, although I have eaten there plenty of times.  My official pick is "Bondi Beach"  seeing we were just there for some sculpture viewing.  The closest I have come to the races was riding home from work on Oaks day some years ago.  The crowd had spilled over to the other side of the river. Their bottles, bodies and shoes scattered everywhere. It was easier riding on the grass.

Cox Plate

I went to Medical One to see the doc about a gooey eye that was steadily getting gooier. It just so happened to be Cox Plate day. I have had a racing day on my list to check out what goes on there having never been before.  The Medical One was besieged by anti horse placard wavers. Also the SES and Rotary were everywhere on the roads and the street was blocked off just past the doc's entrance. Puckle St was going off. Every cafĂ© had the all day breakfast going and there wasn't a seat anywhere at 9:30 am and all you could see was suits and fascinators.  Having survived all this the doc said he couldn't do much for the eye and just to clean it out with saline.

I should place a bet on 'The Cleaner'

The Polo Club

Yes grab some mallets, a ball, 8 horses and riders an umpire and of course 400 metres by 100 metres of very prime, flat, buildable land (rarer in Singapore) and you have a polo match. We met the Carney's at the Singapore Polo Club for dinner. Now this is a page out of your Colonial English expansion era and it is still here. Most of old Singaore buildings are gone but not this.  I found what happened here in 1965. It was on the 9th August when Singapore went its own way as an independent nation, after Lee Kuan Yew tried to integrate into a larger Malaysia.
