Barcelona Day 2

Some years back before internet ticket sales we turned up at Sagrada Familia and the queue for tickets was a kilometre long.  This time I bought tickets two months ago and when we arrived there were no queues, just a sign that said sold out today. It was much more relaxed everyone had the same printed sheet.  Inside the church is completely finished and you would not know it was a construction site.  This is a unique place. All the construction is now on the remaining towers only 8 years to go.

The Mighty Quinn

With apologies to Manfred Mann.  It has been some years since I was at a baptism. I mean a water and brimstone baptism of babies rather than a thrown in at the deep end baptism (of fire).  There were three attendees for the service and they all seemed happy to be there. The number of Godparents seems to be the  outdo factor. I thought Quinn would win easy with five, however Luke chimed in with ten baptismal godparents.  I think she still gets the nod with the inclusion of a bonefide homicide detective straight from leading the taskforce. Now that is getting the law on your side.

St Fidelis

Just came back from a funeral. My old primary school was BOP's (now St Olivers). We played footy against St Fidelis. Everyone called them fiddlesticks. Its the first time I have been to that church even though it is nearby. Margaret Miller was 92 and died in her sleep.  I have never seen five priests conducting a funeral before and that included when the Arch Bishop came to Mr Waters funeral that time.  The Millers have monastic clout.
Turns out that St Fidelis was a German lawyer aka Mark Rey. I have no idea why you would change your name to Fidelis. But like a lot of other lawyers he was stabbed, as he was thought to be a spy.  Those Germans.  This all happened in the 17th century.
