This is a rule that we needed as we did not want to mess up an appointment made months ago. Our bags took forever to turn up. The five minute shuttle bus took 15 minutes because some numbnut got off the previous bus without his bag. So he was discussing this with our bus driver. Returning from trips is different now with a 1.5 hr drive to contend with. We were only 15 minutes late but yes the doc was running 30 minutes late. Well that's better than a finger up the bum. We made it back at 5:00pm taking exactly 12 hrs. We had some pumpkin soup which went down well.

It's ELEMentary
I know how to cool down the earth! The global warming/climate change campaign is more of a fad, a distraction from where money should be spent. Even if we did all chip in a $1000 that would be $7,000 Billion dollars to spend on cooling the Earth but who would you give it to? Instead of spending it at the greenhouse gas production end, let's start at the people end. Eat Less Exercise More! Simples!
We have a climate change law in Victoria and a Minister for Climate Change. Global Warming is now an industry with many agendas. The Govt held a review of the Climate Change Law wanting to know if it was basically a stupid idea. The review panel consisted of three experts, the CEO of a company called ClimateWorx, a professor heading the Climate Change department at UNI, and a lawyer practicing Climate Change Law. Well well, they said Climate Change was a goer, long may it continue. I eventually found a summary of the Climate Change Law, which along with setting gas reduction targets, it also said we had to be Climate Ready. I wonder how much money is being spent on this stuff.

Plovers can't read
Yes the Plovers have scurried further down the beach. My theory is that often after hatching the family will move and congregate with other plovers for greater numbers. We have counted 10 plovers now as far down as first rock. That means the old nest site next to our spot on the beach has been abandoned. However a self styled plover policewoman accused us of stomping on plover nesting sites, took our photo and was most indignant that we should be next to the plover fence. The next day the real plover police arrived and agreed with our assessment and then dismantled the fence.

the Kramer file
I saw an old episode of Seinfeld the other day. It was the one when Kramer took himself off to LA to try acting. There doesn't seem to be many shows around these days where you can get a laugh.

Don't mess with the plover lady
A lot of work goes into guarding the plovers. 99% of dogs are off the leash when they are supposed to be on it. When the plover lady strikes, most dog owners just turn around. If they knew she was at her post during the hottest part of the day as well as backing up again at 6:00 am, day in day out then they might stay in the dog house. The plover lady is 77 and going strong. Be good if we were still patrolling the beach in another 20 yar.

Charge Your Glasses
Organising a birthday bash is no easy thing and when you are 80 and there are two parties to organise then it gets even bigger. Especially if you are determined to find a date that gets absolutely all family members available no matter which part of the country you are in. There is also much to like about a sit down affair with three courses, when you have a manageable group of around 40. Makes a good change from the standing around finger food type of do. Well done to the Matriarch who is now well practiced to do it all again in 10 years time.
PS Charging your Glass is an odd phrase. Seems that 100's of yar ago a charge was a load that you would carry. eg put a charge in your gun is to fill it up.

New Years achieved
Well ROBOT has delivered the New Year's resolution all complete inside the first week. Hard to believe. The comic strip below is my first edition. I kept it to two panels for simplicity. I drew a hard copy pencil version then scanned them and framed them together using Paint. There is probably purpose built comic strip software out there for sketching and overlapping and versioning etc. You might confuse the dog for a pig. I have seen plenty of unharnessed dogs bothering bikini girls and plovers but no pigs. I have filed the originals in case they are worth millions in years to come. Anyway edition one is titled "Revenge of the Giant Plover". I should put my makers mark on it for the next edition.
The line work seems to be a bit thin. Perhaps I need a bigger lead in my pencil.

The Annual Review
The ROBOT blog has been around for almost a year. How do you measure how the blog has gone? The stats page says the blog is approaching 700 views and their spread is originating from various countries around the world. I have contributed 90 posts including this one, more like literary gems HaHa. The comments section has been bleak, not much action to report there. A goal for the next twelve months is to get a few comments.
Also I will try to expand the repertoire to include my own cartoons. I have stolen one recently but at least 99% of the photos are all taken by me. My old mate Pablo does a good cartoon, it can't be that hard.
