Views Not

From now on I am not paying any attention to the stats page that is compiled by the Google network monitoring which is supposed to report on all blog activity. I have read an article which says the Google counters are notorius for including every kind of  webcrawler, search bot and AI search algorithm. These must have all made a concerted effort lately as I have seen an explosion in stats, in the hundreds of thousands, in just the last few months. I am meant to be able to turn on some better counting where spurious stuff is excluded but so far my settings are showing these options as greyed out.

AI Comms Traffic

I have made Blog posts on readership and statistics previously. This time it is about communications traffic skyrocketing again and it is all about AI to AI generated comms. AIs are scanning, talking and requesting information amongst themselves. I can see it myself in this Blog.  Whilst the human readership has gone up markedly, the overall views went passed 100,000 in a single month for the first time. It took 10 years of daily posts to get the first 100,000 views and now that number racks up in 30 days.  If I was to turn on adsense, this traffic would not help contribute to a payment, as Google knows human readership from webbot and AI generated stuff.   OK so I won't be a billionaire from this Blog.

Blog stats on the rise

I can usually find something during each day to write a paragraph or two about and put it up here. Some days might be more interesting than some other days but that is the way it goes. Most blogs tailor and hone their subject matter to appeal to a particulat group and always about the same topic. It took ten yar to get to 100,000 views and now one year later this blog is at 200,000 views and I cannot say exactly why it has doubled more quickly.  Perhaps if a blog has been around for ten yar and something has been posted each day then that must deserve a look or a least a view by your friendly AI agent.

Blog Statistics

Towards the end of last year I went passed 100,000 page views which took 10 years of blogging to get to, yet in the 6 months since then there have been another 50,000 views added.  This is mostly from automated web crawlers and trawlers and dedicated Bot programs but I can't help thinking the acceleration is due to something new poking around and its name is most likely AI.  There are serious bloggers who do more than my daily rambling about stuff around here where it does not matter who actually is viewing me. However if I was to start a detailed blog on stamps say (which there are many already out there) and where you started earning a payment then I would not want the likes of Copilot summarising my hard work and presenting it to a potential customer who most likely does not know about the source.  Mind you I have got a diagram below and have no idea from where it came but they obviously don't care either, as there is no embedded acknowledgment. You can't stop the tech.

All Time High

I know there are podcasts and channels and blogs out there with mega followings.  The Retiree's Occasional Blog of Time, after 10 years of typing away, has managed to go passed 100000 views on the last day of the year 2024. I had been following this count for a month now wondering if there was enough time to do it this year and it went down to the wire. Well I still have a few hours left but the mark has now been set.  The next 100000 will be another 10 years.  Happy New Year Year.

10 year blogger

It has been 10 years since I started doing these blog posts.  Four years of that time in Essendon and six years of it here.  It's hard to believe I have found something to say on a daily basis for the last few years and sometimes twice a day.  It has amounted to 3,361 short articles including this one.  I can spend an hour somedays or most likely 15 mins writing most of these.  If I was asked for a highlight it would most likely be one where I have included some video like the plovers at Lake Yambuk this month.  There are some online influencers that spend a lot more time than I do on this stuff but I still managed to get around 1,000 comments and 70,000 visits to the blog in those 10 years.  Now what can I write about tomorrow.

50000 reads

I am continuing the isolation phase for this flu bug thing but I did go out yesterday for a birthday outing. The weather has fined up a bit ie its not raining.  This Blog has been going for some years now and the stats page has ticked over the read count of 50000.  It seems to me this is better than so called 'Likes' where you just push a button.  To register in this count, you have to go to the page and open up an article for reading.  Hooray this has been done over 50000 times for this blog.  So there must be an interest in it, which means I will need to keep a commentary going about what ever happens during any given day.  Today seems a bit slow. I can tell you on a calm Sunday in Winter, fishing boats are still out there, even kayak fishermen. Go fish.

2000th post

It has been a few years since I started dawdling words on this BLOG and now I have reached my 2000th annotation. I just went back five years to see what I might have written then.  There was a spiel about halloween and not being able to avoid it if you were in the caravan at Collendina.  We have solved that issue here, as if you don't have a pumpkin on display then you wont get tricked or treated. I notice the Hallow part is being holy so maybe the Ween part is being tricky, although the dictionary says to ween is to think.

I should really mention todays goings on which involved birds. We have a spot over the back door which is good for them to build a nest but not good for us. Today the battle was full on. Three times so far huge clumps of material have been knocked down. We have started going out every hour this afternoon and they are still on the prowl.

Approximately 30000 times this blog has been read with 431 comments

Blogger Profile

This BLOG has a profile page that I have generally ignored by not filling in any of the details. I have been testing out how to list other BLOGS that have similar interests. EG I have found over 1000 BLOGS that list Geelong as their location. Also there are 1800 BLOGS that have stamps as an interest. So I have updated my profile so that it looks as below.   In checking out some of the 1,000 in the Geelong area, a lot have not been updated in years. The following line typed into Google will list the Geelong BLOGS.

http://www.blogger.com/profile-find.g?t=l&loc0=AU&loc1=victoria&loc2=geelong

This command is searching thru Google Blogs but not anywhere else.  My profile had been looked up over 100 times and there was never anything to read but now that it has some detail the numbers might start to go up. A better profile is meant to encourage readership.

I have since added Brian's  Naughty Boy BLOG to this list
