An Aspro for the Gastro

This gastro business is a pain.  Charlie is in lock down and there will be no more visiting and the next problem is getting them out of there.  We have kept Evie on the run with  Babycinos and shopping expeditions. The best actiivities were the swimming back at our hotel pool.  It is our own room's private pool but we found two teenage girls in our pool the other day.  They were pleading innocence when we sent them on to the other pool.  The other outing was the afternoon playground session.  This time it was Oriel Park. They had many slides and engineered rides and it was also well shaded by the jacarandas.

The Tempest

This was one of Shakespeare's last plays but it doesn't make the reading any easier. I got the gist of it with the help of previous interpretations. I was wanting to identify the magical characters being Prospero, Ariel, Sycorax and Caliban.  In this play, Prospero is banished to an island, after his relos take his place as King of Milan.  However he learns magic and with the help of Ariel, causes a storm to force them to his island where he wins back his title but also forgives the perpetrators at the same time.  These characters have been adapted to SciFi  before, as in the original classic film Forbidden Planet where none other than Robbie the Robot took on the role of the vile Caliban.

H Payne reserve

The other day we took Asher for a walk down the end of their street to Payne Reserve.  43 yar ago that park was different because I had my 21st birthday party there and there was a building or a hall with a stage and a kitchen area that I can remember.  It was a bit of a country knees up affair but there is no sign of any kind of construction other than a toilet block.  I had a look at Google Earth and the photos only go back to 2000 but that means sometime in the 24 yar between 1976 and 2000, somebody made off with a building. Unless I am in the wrong place. I looked for some other photos and can only find two which were taken inside.

Someone must have other photos?

I found the old MMBW plans that I used to work with.  This one shows why there is a Reserve (circled) as West Breen creek used to flow thru it.  So it would have been filled in and a pipe placed underneath.  But does not show any building in the lot to the North.

Shakespeare Revisited

We are making much ado about these pop up shows but the two we have been to are funny.  I think the first one  (As You Like It) was funnier but they are both worth going to.  This one had proper females and plenty more of that slapstick humour and this time the keystone cops were here.  The food vans were different so they must also be on a rotation. This time we had squids and chips for lunch.  Tip: go to the main bar for a drink not the "bar in a van".  The NZ influence could be seen with various dance hakas going on not normally seen on the island of Messina.

Much ado about Nothing

This sounds a bit like a Seinfeld episode although Shakespeare did get in first.  My reading of this play in the original Shakespearean seems to be getting better as I got the gist fairly well.  I did  not pick up any well known lines that get quoted through the ages though.  This play is another one of these love sit coms that gets twisted and then unravelled.  Basically two suave soldiers are in love with two daughters of well healed gentlemen.  The fathers are in full agreement but the brother of one of them is a villain and wants to disrupt these merry plans, so he uses bribery and contrives various devices to trick the lovers that their partner is unfaithful. The main impostor is over heard in a drunken state bragging about his role and how he was paid.  So in the end it comes out that the nuptualists are all innocent and everyone lives happily ever after, except the bastard brother who is apprehended while on the run. To be continued at the pop Up.
