Genuine Hot Weather

It has taken a while but you could describe this weather as hot. I am not sure if it is the done thing to go to a funeral in the morning and then go to beach in the afternoon but that is what we will do after a rest period.  Todays funeral was an upto date techno marvel, from complete live youtube transmission, to pre recorded video from the guest of honour, and also there is the instant online sympathy register by snapping the barcode on the back of the booklet.  We managed to get into the church along with the 200 immediate family members. Now that is a dynasty.

Back to Back

I have heard of back to back flags and back to back cruises but not back to back funerals. Both the subject of nasty brain cancers, both held at the local golf course. The drive to this one was shorter and freeways all the way.  The kangaroos were just starting to move in so that was the queue to head back. Wendy made a good eulogy working thru facets from A to Z. Very unique.

Three Little Pigs

Took a drive today to Gisbourne for a funeral. Before that I had an appointment with the dentist but there was still time to do the two hour drive, get some lunch at the Three Piggies and make it to the funeral by 2:30pm.  The Bacchus Marsh road from Geelong is having an upgrade and there are long stretches of 40kmh only. The three piggies also had some book shelves so I paid them $4 for a book.  The town is quite lively, not really any closed shops or tumbleweeds blowing around.  This is the first funeral I have seen without any real service. Stories were used to illustrate a life cut short.

These colours were outside our front door this morning

The Junior Common Room

This is straight out of Hogwarts and if its the Junior Common Room then the senior one must be even more turtleneck and brandy.  Wall to wall mounted paddles with previous winners of this and that plus numerous other plaques.  I doubt if many funerals services would have been held here but I am impressed, after only 4 years of work, Anthony has proved so important that the Uni provided such great venues for the services.

Jim Carlon

Went to a huge funeral with around 500 people in the church and at least 250 at the party afterwards. This was the same venue where we went to a 90th birthday of his two years ago.  Something I had never seen before was the coffin covered in messages for the afterlife.  These were done in texta.  I wouldn't call this graffiti, more like inscriptions as in a headstone but short lived.  An archaeologist won't find these in 200 yar because they will all be reduced to an urn.

Hard to see the inscriptions
