VeloWay

The last couple of days we have been driving a lot in traffic between Williamstown and Albert Park then over to Nth Melb and eventually escaping back to Geelong. We had to use Footscray Rd a couple of times as there were breakdowns on the WestGate.  This gave a chance to see the Cycling Super Highway, a new green tube above the old Footscray Rd yet suspended below the new elevated Footscray Rd.  I used to ride along there and it was just a path on the right, with a few roadways to cross going into the Port container yards. You would not recognise these areas if you had not been there for five years like me.

Willie Workout

I had time for a morning gym session and had the gym to myself however in the background the ladies pool session was in full aquatic mode.  I made it a leisurely paced session with 5km in 20 min on the bike machine and 2.5 km in 10 min on the rowing machine. I was paying attention to the left knee which did ok so I think we can try a bike ride at the weekend. I notice they have their own bus here for various excursions and it was parked at the door but only four customers were waiting. We have not fully walked the entire grounds here as I am not sure where they hide that bus.

A Walk in the Park

We had a few hours to kill between tests so there was this huge park nearby called Fawkner Park. The heat was coming on however these paths were mostly tree lined so we took our time trying them out.  We could not take a trick with traffic as a breakdown across the Westgate ground us to a halt but we took the roundabout road thru Footscray.  For the second day in a row I went for a swim at the JawBone. Debbie was there yesterday but I just went myself today, even though the wind was up, the water temperature was good for a cool off.  The extra stopover at Willie means we can get the bins out which stay half full most of the time.

ElkFerns or StagFerns

Some yar ago we took fallen stagferns to the Orchid man for remounting. This was something he did and in a timely manner.  We took two more last year and now after 9 months we have gotten them back in a more neglected state but at least well mounted on solid new backboards.  One in particular needed more delicate work. It seems originally it was on a pole and had a circular canal running down through it. This needed major surgery to be broken out and flattened in segments. He said he was sorry for the delay but was running three businesses by himself and don't bring any more stagferns to him for mounting. We had already figured that out.

We have them leaning against the wall so far

Coast Care Crew

I haven't been across the road for two weeks so I needed to check out what state it was in.  Reasonably clean is the answer.  There were a few things like a glove, a tennis ball and the usual plastics, butts and paper.  However on the  way back the Coast group had arrived down by the creek and they were in the thick of it down in the creek bed, getting stuff out mainly from the so called Dog Toy box.  They were going to try and haul the box out of there as it is just an eyesore.

BackYard Swingers

The hanging gym has come into full usage this time around with every piece of apparatus in use at the same time and rated at 150 kg it sure had a big test, even if it was only for a photo. Meanwhile the ever reliable spit was always turning in the corner with lamb at one end and chicken at the other. The Evie and Kaia show continued into the afternoon with much cake and frogs in jelly and an honourable mention to the 70th wedding anniversary.  It started winding up after the main guests left for the airport which gave time for a cleanup before we made our way back to Geelong. Phew! Today must be a rest day.

Cousin's Party Time

Any excuse for a party. This was the day before party and not only that there was a party last week and another one next week.  The trial run gathering went well. I notice that Charlie being the odd one out seems to prefer doing his own thing when surrounded by excited females. It was a warm day so the water hose came out to play as well as the impressive hanging gym and not to forget the trampolineum.  Everyone was outside for the afternoon and by eating time no-one could be bothered so got the local Thai shop to provide some tasty meals.  I could not get an action shot of all five of them together.
