Kaia swings low

Asher is so good with her little sister. She is always on the lookout for her. I think being that slightly bit older makes a difference.  We went for a 5,000 step walk along the high tops looking down at the water then back via the coffee shop and the playground. Asher could be a professional swing pusher as she guides the swing with one hand while holding and sipping the babycino in the other.

we'll strike up a tune

that's the way you do it

Asher Rides Thru

The Daniel Roberts's are on back to back weddings including all the way over in Perth but this weekend it is at good old Barwon Heads so that means we have Grandie visitors for an overnighter. I took Asher to the local Lake with her bicycle and the backup scooter.  She did well on the gravel track which is harder to ride on than smoother concrete. We went for a few hundred metres then turned back and repeated that section again. It helped that there were no other people around. After that we got out the trusty scooter and went around to the playground for a while then scootered all the way back to the car. We have had our exercise for today.

Writings

Spent another session scanning a section of the papers that Debbie has compiled from Beryl's writing desk.  I have not been reading much of it, other than the first few lines, inorder to get a title for each filename. I have included one here which she labeled 'The Street'  however it could have been more like 'Our house in the street'.  I also got out the book that Asher gave me where you jot down ramblings from time to time. So I opened it at a random place and filled in the page related to nicknames and childhood toys.

Easter Clean

It has calmed down here with no wind in fact so I went across to checkout the scene after the Easter hordes. It looks ok considering the storm that came through.  I did get a half bag of mixed stuff. The biggest item was a section of molded plastic embedded with rope.  The usual butts, caps and small plastics were there and just one pepsi can.  I also spied that someone else has taken up the purging plant pull. There are a few piles of weeds appearing along the back where they have been left to wither.  I have been avoiding these ones as they are quite prickly.  On the way back I noted the corner house has now been sold. It is a huge block but the spare space is mainly in the front yard. This one needs some work.

there were four of these piles

Celtic Empire

I got this book from the "free to a good home" desk at Williamstown last time I was there. I think those ones are a duplication from what is already on the shelves.  These Cussler stories are an easy read. Not too much to think about.  The baddies end up dead and the goodies go on to the next book.  There is a woman in this one who wants to get rid of all the men in the world. Thanks very much. It gets a bit confusing when there are two characters named Dirk Pitt. One should have been named Clive.

TinaKula

Next month we will be going to the Solomon Islands and since the rain has hit hard again I have had a stamp day which uncovered this one showing a volcanic island.  We will be in the area but not sure if we will be close enough to see anything. There have been explosions from it in recent times (2018). I have seen vivid red lava flows and explosions at night previously and that is a sight.  I had a go at a quick drawing as well working from the stamp.

The stamp was printed in the 1930's

the exploded crater happened six yar back

Cash for Cans

Way way back one of the jobs that O'brien Catering paid for was the paying out of a penny for every bottle collected at the Footy. Kids were forever combing the football ground for bottles and it meant we did not have to go back later to pick them up.  When the Grandies cotton onto an extra pocket money source, I can see we might have to store containers in a separate bin. Our bin was full to the brim and I estimate there may have been up to $20 worth in there, mainly after having visitors over four days of Easter.  I assume once containers get into the garbo truck the recycle payout does not happen.  I spied one of the container sheds the other day and it was mostly children feeding stuff into the machine. Not sure how you get your payment though.
