We had a high chair, a pram and a cot plus a car seat. That was the major items required for babies 40 yar ago. We did not have electronic monitors, bib buckets or the Snot Boss. I have heard of the snot boss but never seen it in action, until today. A nostril fluid extraction tool that looks and sounds like a torture device. I am amazed they weren't used for covid tests. Once we got Evie outside to the play ground she seemed happy as. Not a grumble or a runny nose in sight. There was a large black snake but I did not wander over with baby to check it out.

Nundah Quiet
Debbie has gone off to visit Evie and bring her back here to see our spot in the burbs. We will see if she is interested in trying the pool. I have had a closer look at the inside now and it has an Art Deco feel to it. Mainly light fittings, the mirror and the ceiling. It is one large room with a kitchen at one end and a bed at the other. The kitchen end lets in a lot of light at 6:00am. The aircon points directly at the bed, so we leave it off overnight with just a sheet on. The internet here is good. We have got The Expanse streaming on the Prime TV here and we are switching between that and Bosch which is the book I mentioned a few weeks back.

Nundah Inn
We have made it across to our palatial executive suite. Debbie discovered this on previous trips to Nundah and at only $150 per night it is a well kept secret. We are sitting on our deck after trying out our private pool even though there is persistant drizzle. The communal pool is not much bigger than ours. The other news is that overnight Rick became a close contact. The guy he was working with tested positive this morning so Rick is getting his test done at 5:00am tomorrow. In the meantime it is proceed as normal according to the new rules. They were both in the tower together for a one hour period so it is unlikely that anything was transferred in that small time frame and in any case we have been separated from him except for a few minutes as we were leaving and he was coming home. We had another lunch with Laura and spent a few more hours Evie sitting before we arrived here.

Novotel exit
The Sun has come out for the first time in three days, which was the exact timing of our stay in Brisbane city central. We will be moving to Nundah in about 30mins. The hotel here is good but pricey. The wifi works well and we streamed Amazon Prime to a laptop with no trouble . We did not use the restaurant but had bar food each night which was fast and plenty. We have just come back from the city pool by the river which was quite busy but there was still plenty of room to set up camp if you wanted too however shade was hard to find.

Evie luncheon
It was poring so the 11:00am swim session was abandoned in favour of a lunch at Evie's house. We brought the chicken and rolls as well as the vietnamese rice paper rolls. Evie had a very good lunch finished off with an enormous water melon slice, her favourite. She was very agreeable to some playing on the mat until sleep time at 2:00pm. That was our cue to head back to town for the afternoon nap. Traffic here is non existant. At times I look down a three lane road and cannot see a car either way.

Brisbane Bicycle demise
One of the things I liked best about Brisbane was the bicycle scheme which we used previously. Since our last visit they have removed all the bikes and dismantled all the bike stations. Instead there is a motorised scooter scheme that gets you no exercise what's so ever. As soon as you put your weight on it, off it goes. I have seen two people at a time on them and they can go fast. Now we will have to look for a bicycle shop that hires bikes.

Early Fireworks
We had been considering walking across to the river side for a riparian view but seeing we had a seventh floor window facing the city it would be more comfortable here than getting wet outside. The rain here has been constant. The 8:30 pm show went for 10 minutes. We were delivered a NYE bottle of champagne earlier in the afternoon so we opened that in the room after we had some tapas type bar food down below. We have worked out that the aircon temperature overnight is best set at 23°.
