Over the years we have taken various guests to eat at the Oakdene Vineyards. It is an iconic spot on the Bellarine and in the earlier days there was also a cafe that had quirky decos like rows of teapots in a garden with a fairy wall to name a couple. The cafe closed and a new lessee kept the restaurant going called Mr Grubb. We were there again for a long lunch with very good crispy grilled barramundi. Then we find that the whole site has sold to a developer who wanted it all pulled down, including the vines, to put houses up. The council have already stipulated that there be no more new estates on the Bellarine Peninsula. This guy is pushing hard and says he will go for ½ hectare blocks which must not be classed as an estate. But this leaves the whole enterprise well short of the original profit estimate. Developers Out! Developers Out!
