We left at 7:30am to get to Buninyong before the Women's event started at 9:20am. We parked a bit further away than previous years so were passed by the women on their first lap as we walked up the mountain. The Disseldorp's were in full voice, their setup pioneered the way for all other groups. Now everyone has shelters with TV sets and fridges and barbecues. Sarah put in a very competitive ride, constantly leading across the the top on each circuit only to be out sprinted at the line which is often the fate of lithely built climbers. She did win the Queen of the Mountain title. Overall a good day out even with the rain. We scored some water bottles which we do need lately as our current crop have gone brittle. That was the last occasion for hosting the road titles in Buninyong as the event moves to Perth but you never know it might be back.
