EKKA Day is a public holiday here. We took a short drive to a revitalised section of the Brisbane River. There are indicators there that the area was a former industrialised warehouse location. There is a small beach with proper sand but it is not suitable for swimming, more like sun baking and sand castles. There are picnic facilities and many new apartment blocks. We had a seafood lunch at the cafe which was very tasty. This is as far North as the river ferries will go before they turn back so could be a good outing from the city.
